PACIFIC 712 considers the breadth and depth of Pacific Indigenous thoughts, concepts, and ways of knowing. In doing so, it provides students with the opportunity to consider the relevance and use of Pacific Indigenous thought in a range of settings, both within the academy and beyond. Beginning with an examination of key terms, including "Indigenous", PACIFIC 712 will examine concepts and beliefs Pacific peoples think with as they make sense of their worlds and their places in them. Through consulting a range of sources, students will explore Pacific Indigenous thoughts about a range of topics, which may include: genealogies and relationships; place, space, and time; the environment; culture and history; and regionalism. In the process, students will not only engage with Pacific Indigenous thoughts but will also have the chance to add to a growing body of literature about what they think, how they think, and why that matters today.
