Students will test the design methods introduced in DESIGN 300 through iterating a series of practical prototypes. Prototype development will explore potential approaches to address local issues and will allow students time to develop a personalised technical skillset in preparation for their Capstone project.
Student experiments will start broad, through exploration of favoured Capstone themes, and will gradually focus on a final prototype to support the Capstone proposal developed in DESIGN 300.
Students will develop a series of reflections to document and evaluate their iterations, culminating in a progress report, presented in class. Reflections will be assessed individually, and through peer review.
Lessons on reflexive practice will support development of student autonomy, self-evaluation and reporting skills.
