In 2025 this course focuses on the theme of "Gendered Voices". We will read and examine a selection of Latin literature that demonstrates a keen interest in male and female voices, along with masculinity and femininity, and other related topics. We will read both male and female authors, from the Classical and post-Classical eras, and compare how male and female authors thought about and expressed concepts that were important to them.
Students enrolled in ANCEINT 745 will take the lead in lead discussions and contribute to peer-to-peer learning environments and activities.
In ANCIENT 745, we will focus on extending your foundational skills in: close reading of Latin, critical analysis of scholarship and scholarly trends, expressing relevant concepts in Latin, identifying and explaining literary devices, communicating your higher order thinking in oral and written form, and working with others to develop their capabilities.
