Overview

Programme Overview

A BCom/BProp conjoint allows you to complete a BCom and a BProp in less time than it would take to complete the two degrees separately.

The BCom offers a wide range of majors to choose from that will equip you with strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, as well as an understanding of global business. You will engage with innovative courses, immersive learning, and state-of-the-art technology to give you the best possible start for a career in your chosen field.

The BProp is a specialist degree designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills for a range of careers in the property profession in New Zealand and elsewhere. Highlights of the degree are a buddy programme through which you will receive mentoring from senior people in the property industry – and abundant networking opportunities.

For the BCom there are 12 majors to choose from that cover every aspect of business, and the BProp will equip you with a specialised degree in Property.

Programme Structure

The BCom/BProp usually takes four years to complete.

You will need to complete a total of 540 points, consisting of:

  • 255 points from BCom courses
  • 255 points from BProp courses
  • 15 points from General Education
  • 15 points from courses available for any programme

In your first year you will complete the Waipapa Taumata Rau core course, six interdisciplinary core courses, and the introductory property course which will become the building blocks for your degree.

From your second year, you will complete a core course in Business Consulting and a mixture of BCom major and specialist Property courses. In your final year, you will complete a capstone course for each component of the conjoint, where you will apply your skills and knowledge in a practical context and build a portfolio that can be shown to prospective employers.

To complete the conjoint degree in four years, students usually enrol in nine 15-point courses (135 points) each year. You need to maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.5 each year to continue with your conjoint.
