Programme Overview

Through the BCom/BMus conjoint you can advance your interest in specialist fields of business and enterprise in combination with your preferred musical discipline.

You’ll learn from leading business academics while developing your practice with some of the country’s finest instrument teachers, music historians and composers.

Our BCom/BMus develops essential skills that will help you to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, globalised economy and an evolving music industry.

Programme Structure

Your specific enrolment will depend on your chosen majors. You will need to complete 540 points:

  • 255 points from BCom courses
  • 255 points from BMus courses
  • 15 points Waipapa Taumata Rau core course
  • 15 points from courses available for any programme

In the BCom component of the conjoint degree there are eight compulsory courses. Six Stage I and one Stage II core courses, and one capstone course. Stage I core courses are to be prioritised before enrolling in major courses.

If you choose two majors for BCom component, you may exceed 255pts and prolong your degree completion.

A student may substitute one or more other courses for one or more of the Bachelor of Commerce Schedule courses with the permission of Senate or its representative.

Complete 540 points comprising:

  • 255 points for Bachelor of Commerce Conjoint Component, and
  • 255 points for one Specialisation from Bachelor of Music Conjoint Component, and
  • 15 points from Waipapa Taumata Rau Courses, and
  • 15 points from General Education Courses, and
  • 1 item from Academic Integrity Course

Bachelor of Commerce Conjoint Component

Complete 255 points comprising:

  • 105 points for Core Courses, and
  • 15 points from Capstone Courses, and
  • At least 1 item from Majors, and
  • 0 to 60 points from Other Courses from the Bachelor of Commerce Schedule

Selected courses must include at least 135 points at level 200 or higher.

Selected courses must include at least 75 points at level 300 or higher.

Complete 105 points comprising:

  • 75 points for all Compulsory Courses, and
  • 15 points from Business Elective Courses, and
  • 15 points from Statistics Elective Courses
